As the new year rolled over, I was itching to do some modelling.  With my fingers crossed, I submitted to a casting call looking for runway models for an upcoming bridal show.  A few days later, they replied.  I was offered a spot walking in the Lady Tais fashion show, one of three runway showcases at the Exclusive Bridal Show.  I happily accepted.

Happy Spring Everyone!  To coincide with the start of the new season, today is also the official relaunch of Boutique Mademoiselle Vintage!  They’re the online vintage boutique I had my first fashion photo shoot with a few weeks back.  I wrote about it here.  Click on that link to read more about how the day went down (amazing!).  Since then I’ve been waiting patiently nervously to see how everything turned out.  Finally the day has arrived and I can share the relaunch with you!  I can be found on the website’s front page in their lookbook, a photo collection composed of pieces you can find separately inside the boutique, combined into outfits, or looks.  Here’s a teaser for you.

On Tuesday I turned on my inner top model and jumped in front of the camera to shoot my first fashion collection.  I applied for a casting call I had seen online, and after my portfolio was reviewed, I was chosen for the gig.  The shoot was for Boutique Mademoiselle Vintage, an online vintage boutique.  We were modelling the items the boutique owner, Tara Filteau, had chosen as part of her Spring/Summer collection.  It was a small production, with two models, the boutique owner, and the photographer.

This wasn’t supposed to happen. I’ve always maintained that I’m an actress, not a model. This was for two reasons. One, I didn’t want to dilute my brand. I didn’t want to be seen as just another pretty face doing whatever I could to get in front of a camera. I much rather wanted to be known for my talent, which I’ve always believed in. Two, I’ve never seen myself as the model type. Industry standards require you to be 5’8″ and above, with clear/perfect skin, perfect teeth, and can fit into a sample size 4 or smaller. I’m quite happy with my body, but I don’t fit those stats. My skin is good, but not perfect. I like my smile, but my teeth aren’t perfect. I’m a size 6 or sometimes an 8. I’m good with that. I really don’t need to lose any weight. The only thing I’ve got going for me is that I’m 5’8″, right on the dot. Just barely tall enough. So for those reasons, I’ve never tried to be a model.
