I walk into the audition room and am invited to sit across the desk from the casting director. They look me up and down, lean in and out. “Ooooooooooooo. You’re interesting. You look like you could have just come straight out of Middle Earth.”

As the new year rolled over, I was itching to do some modelling. With my fingers crossed, I submitted to a casting call looking for runway models for an upcoming bridal show. A few days later, they replied. I was offered a spot walking in the Lady Tais fashion show, one of three runway showcases at the Exclusive Bridal Show. I happily accepted.

2013 has been very good for me. I wanted to update you all on what I’ve been working on. This February I had the incredible opportunity to play a starring role in a new sci-fi / post-Apocalypse web series called Darkest Times. It was a bit of a roller coaster ride, and definitely an experience I’ll never forget. It was a LOT of hard work and dedication by a number of talented and creative cast and crew members. It was not an easy shoot, but nothing good comes easily. 🙂

Every year I compile a best dressed list from the Oscars. This year I thought I’d see what the stars of the screen, big and small, adorned themselves with at the 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards. This year’s carpet was a sea of red and white, with a touch of gold.

The plan was simple. My shift ended at 8pm, the party started at 8pm, and the venue was only a couple of blocks away from work. Punch out, throw on a dress, touch up my makeup, and make it to the 16th Annual Young Filmmakers Party just fashionably late. Seems simple enough, right? I’m sure you know where this is going…

Happy Spring Everyone! To coincide with the start of the new season, today is also the official relaunch of Boutique Mademoiselle Vintage! They’re the online vintage boutique I had my first fashion photo shoot with a few weeks back. I wrote about it here. Click on that link to read more about how the day went down (amazing!). Since then I’ve been waiting patiently nervously to see how everything turned out. Finally the day has arrived and I can share the relaunch with you! I can be found on the website’s front page in their lookbook, a photo collection composed of pieces you can find separately inside the boutique, combined into outfits, or looks. Here’s a teaser for you.

Don’t worry folks. Before you think that I’m curled up in my Spanx crying into my Ben & Jerry’s Bacon Cheeseburger ice cream researching Gastric Bypass, rest assured; I’m not. My shape-wear is tucked away securely in my underwear drawer, there’s no such thing as Bacon Cheeseburger ice cream (yet. Ben, Jerry, call me. The first one’s free.), and I’ll be damned if I’m going to let anyone make me think that I’m fat. What DID I do? I laughed. I laughed, and I laughed, and I laughed. Then I shook my head.

This weekend is an exciting one for me. For the first time, my work has been seen on-screen in Spain. My Spanish debut came yesterday with the screening of The Taste of Relation at the Marbella International Film Festival. Our film was accepted as one of 47 selections from over 1000 applicants. This marks my third European film festival screening, after last year’s acceptances at Amsterdam and Cyprus.
New Music Video Out! Jakalope – Magnolia

Magnolia, the new music video / short film from the group Jakalope was released on Monday. It was written, directed and edited by RT!, who was just nominated for 11 MMVAs at the Much Music Video Awards ceremony this past weekend. We shot this back in mid-March. It was a 16 hour overnight shoot, starting at 4pm on the first day and wrapping at 8am on the next. Our location was Black Creek Pioneer Village (similar to King’s Landing for you New Brunswick folk), which gave it that wonderful historical look. I always find period pieces a lot of fun to shoot and this was no different. Our costumes were wonderful, and I was surprised at just how warm a shawl can keep you when you’re outside in the middle of march at 3am in the rain for 3 hours without your coat. Who says actors don’t earn their stripes?? We fought hard for this one.
